Mehran Mohajer Iranian, b. 1964

Overview
Mehran Mohajer (1964- ) lives and works in Tehran. He has a BA in Photography and an MA in General Linguistics from the University of Tehran. Over the past three decades, his mind and eyes have been interested in the dynamics of the language of the camera, exploring its boundaries. He is especially interested in the interplay of the language and the image with an eye focusing on Persian classical literature. Mohajer has shown his works in solo exhibitions inside Iran and in group exhibitions inside and outside Iran.
Mehran Mohajer teaches photography and is a translator and author. He is a lecturer at the University of Tehran and has taught in various academic institutions for the past 30 years. He has written and translated several books on photography and literary criticism. His articles on photography have appeared in the main part of Herfeh:Honarmand magazine and in the book entitled Vaghte Aks . His photography books include Tehran Bigah (Tehran Undated/Displaced, 2014), Bein o Labein (Between and Nonbetween, 2016), Hava-ye Zamin (The Air of the Land, 2018), and Darbast (Scaffolding, 2020). His books on literature include Vajhegan Adabiyat va Goftman Adabi (A Lexicon of Literature and Literary Discourse, 2002, with Mohammad Nabavi, 2002), Be Sooye Zabanshenasiye Sher (Towards a Linguistics of Poetry, 2014, with Mohammad Nabavi). His translations of photography and art include Baygani va Tan (The Body and the Archive, 2009), Akkassi: Daramadi Enteghadi (Photography: A Critical Introduction,2011, with Mohammad Nabavi et al.), Mafaim-e Bonyadi-ye Tarikh-e Honar (Critical Terms for Art History, 2016, with Mohammad Nabavi)
