Dastan +2 proudly opens Dariush Hoseini's "In a Continuum" on 16 October 2006. The exhibition will be on view through 6 November. "In a Continuum" is the artist's first solo exhibition with Dastan +2. Works of the artist had previously appeared in three group exhibitions at Dastan: "Figures" (2018, curated by Behzad Nejadghanbar); "Resonance" (2026, curated by Ashkan Zahraei); "A Collection" (2026, curated by Aidin Xankehsipour and Reza Abedini). Dastan Gallery wishes to thank Banafsheh Shahrzad for her assistance in realizing the show.
"In a Continuum" is Dariush Hoseini's homage to the Persian painting tradition. Using conventions of miniature painting (complex view, decorative patterns, non-linear perspective, and omnipresence of light), Dariush Hoseini depicts scenes of everyday life (in the park, in the bazaar, at the pool, at the zoo) in these 9 canvases that are at once familiar and unexpected. "Complex view" places characters in a dynamic position. "Decorative motifs" emphasize the relationship between the background and foreground. "Non-linear perspective" gives the viewers' imagination the ability to place objects and characters within the geography of the canvas at will. "Absense of chiaroscuro" indicates the omnipresence of light. For an artist who has never stopped experimenting with painting, "In a Continuum" is Dariush Hoseini’s way of opening new vistas for his viewers, inviting them to have a fresh look at their society and surroundings.
