Dastan, in collaboration with New Media Society (Tehran, Iran), is pleased to announce “Shared Genes”, a drawing/installation and video presentation by Saman Khosravi at Electric Room. The show will be open to public view from January 26 to January 31, 2018.
Describing the presentation, New Media Society writes: In “Shared Genes”, drawing and multimedia artist Saman Khosravi has presented a combination of drawings and installation.
As he explains, for Saman, drawing is an act to get rid of the layers that are piled on one another in his unconscious; an emancipation from a sense he does not fully comprehend, and this sense, continuously fills and empties. “Shared Genes” refers to feelings that cannot be quantified and given values to: pain, love, sorrow and… which are defined in the personal experiences of each individual. Feelings that do not result in words, and remain in one’s throat, and block the flow of air.
Saman Khosravi seeks emancipation in this drawing/installation project, but it seems that the neon lights freeze his senses in a moment in time, and appear to diverge the senses in front of the drawings. The neon lights give wrong directions, so as to keep the viewer's curiosity from looking into the drawings as the eyes tire. It seems futile to follow their way since they only give light to their surroundings —luminous untruthful layers on an abstract, cold and undeniable reality.
