Dastan is pleased to display an installation of paintings by Mahsa Karimi titled “Their Chronic Conditions” at Electric Room from November 10 to November 22, 2017.
“Their Chronic Conditions” consists of a series of figurative drawings and paintings on paper and canvas. In this series, the artist has been inspired by non-verbal communication, stating: “Clearly, non-verbal messages have a longer history than words in human history. In fact, this means of communication with oneself and others, has been very interesting to me, and whenever looking at a portrait or a group photo, or even while interacting with a community, I have found their non-verbal messages more frank and more reliable, than their verbal communication. My long-term focus on these, led to creating this series; they are my interpretations of such states of communication.
Mahsa Karimi (b. 1981, Sabzevar, Iran) studied graphic design at Sydney TAFE. Her work has been shown in three solo exhibitions at Azad Art Gallery and several group shows.
