Dastan is pleased to display an installation of three-dimensional works and drawings by Behnaz Fatemi, titled “Residue”, at Electric Room from September 1 to 6, 2017.
The project is themed around a combination of five concepts: “Coma”, “Lust”, “Rationality”, “Electricity”, and the color “Red”. An installation of four sculptures inspired by “The Thinker” (Auguste Rodin, circa 1904), “The Statue of Liberty” (Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, 1886), images and sculptures of “Tutankhamen” (Egyptian pharaoh, first millennium BC), and images of “Shiva” (a principal deity of Hinduism). A second installation of smaller ceramic works on a bed of rock salt (halite) and a number of drawings on paper and wooden boards are the other parts of the presentation.
Behnaz Fatemi (b. 1991, Isfahan, Iran) studied painting at the University of Guilan (Rasht, Iran). Her work has been exhibited in one solo exhibition (2015, Matn-e-Emrooz Gallery, Isfahan, Iran) and over ten group exhibitions in Tehran, Rasht and Isfahan.
