Amin Montazeri | "The Legend of the Inheritors of Fate": +2
A solo presentation of works by Amin Montazeri at +2
+2 presents "The Legend of the Inheritors of Fate", recent works by Amin Montazeri, from February 25 to March 11, 2021. The show, comprising 14 small and large paintings, follows Amin's previous works with marker, ink, and acrylic on canvas. Each painting tells us a different facet of a story that the exhibition space connects. This is the artist's third solo exhibition with Dastan and his first collaboration with +2.
Amin Montazeri (b. 1992, Tehran) is an Iranian painter who lives and works in Tehran. He draws narratives and tales related to everyday life, literature, mythology, and historical accounts inspired by traditions of narrative painting. Amin assumes the position of a seductive storyteller and observer. He views himself and his age from a distance. It is from this distance, detached from emotional entanglements, that he presents his stories from a fresh vantage point – as if all events emerge anew from old stories, turning into our guiding light. In the current exhibition, he occupies himself with established patterns in human condition vis-à-vis power and peril, looking for narratives and images that best symbolize them. Using conventional visual devices in depicting ancient or modern stories, he creates a consistent body of works that draws us into the narrative.
Amin studied painting at Tehran University of Art. He held "A Detailed Account" in May-April 2014 and "A Detailed Account 2" in January 2016 at the Basement, and he has participated in many group exhibitions around the world, among which is London's Start Art Fair (2016), four showings at Art Dubai between 2015 and 2018, and participation in Salon du Dessin de Paris.
