Dastan presents a solo exhibition of works by Yasaman Nozari titled “In Motion” at Dastan’s Basement. The exhibition will open on Friday, September 11, 2020, and will be on display for public viewing until September 25. Her first solo show at Dastan, this exhibition includes oil, water color, and acrylic paintings on cardboard and canvas.
Yasaman Nozari (b. 1991, Tehran) is a graduate of painting from University of Tehran, Faculty of Fine Arts. Currently living and working in Tehran, she began her artistic practice in 2013. Her paintings have been previously featured in two solo shows and several group exhibitions. The current series has been the result of two years of work.
“In Motion” features the artist’s careful examination of classical landscape painting combined with a fluid rendition of structural elements. Trimmed into fragmented ribs hovering in abstract landscapes, these structural elements, dissolve any signs of solidity and stagnation. As stated by the artist, the landscapes in these paintings have been experienced by movement, depicted through “consecutive appearance of lines that connect the surfaces together.”
