The Observer has published a list of booths worthy of a visit at Frieze New York 2023. With 60 galleries from 27 countries, the fair offers a wide-ranging collection of artworks that explore personal, political, and ethereal themes. The article highlights the prominence of women artists, as seen in the presentation by Dastan. Featuring five Iranian female artists, including Behjat Sadr, Farideh Lashai, Farah Ossouli, Bita Fayyazi, and Newsha Tavakolian, the works displayed by the gallery challenge established narratives. Ossouli's painting "David and I" reinterprets Jacques-Louis David's painting, portraying Persian heroines who intervene, plead, and protect, while Tavakolian's video series "Listen" highlights Iranian women reclaiming their voices.
