Milan Design Week solidified Milan's global design capital position, fostering a vibrant and ever-evolving design scene.
Since 2003, the Fuorisalone Award has been established to honor the most remarkable occurrences during Milan Design Week. This accolade held great democratic significance, as it was determined by direct public voting facilitated through a dedicated platform. Each year, a diverse and sizable audience was encouraged to participate in selecting the most captivating and exhilarating installations and events.
In this year's edition, the award was presented to "Beyond the Surface" a showcase featuring art and design crafted from stone. The immersive installation was collaborative between Solid Nature, a Dutch stone brand, and OMA, a high-profile architectural practice. They transformed an unconventional venue, the basement, and the gardens of a private residence in Brera, into a mesmerizing journey.
The garden featured sculptural seating by Bita Fayyazi in collaboration with Solid Nature and OMA, a tribune by landscape architects Studio Ossidiana for inspirational talks, and a sculpture by Ward Strootman.
