Overview
Solo presentation of works by Matin Jameie at  E1 Art Gallery in collaboration with Dastan's Basement.
Press release

Dastan's Basement is proud to announce the opening of Matin Jameie’s solo exhibition, "Dogs", on Friday, July 18, 2025. Presented in collaboration with E1 Gallery at their venue, "Dogs" will be on view through August 1.

In this photographic series, the artist approaches stray dogs in a village on the outskirts of Tehran called Dotuyeh, attempting to simultaneously capture their "beauty" and "displacement". The repetition and continuity of Jameie’s trips to Dotuyeh have allowed him to access a wide spectrum of emotions and sensations in his non-human subjects, so much so that the presentation evokes human presence in the viewer’s mind. His subjects are at times solitary and at others in groups or side by side. Following the life of stray dogs in southern Tehran with his camera, Matin Jameie established a long-term emotional bond with his subjects.

Matin Jameie (b. 1988, Tehran) holds a BA in Graphic Design from the Islamic Azad University of Tehran and a photography certificate from the University of Tehran’s non-degree programs. He has previously worked as a still photographer in the film industry and collaborated on cinematic projects such as "The Tale of Shemroon" (2022).
