Dastan X NFTation: Art Dubai 2022 | Digital Section

NFTation and Dastan are pleased to announce the debut presentation of NFTation at Art Dubai 2022 featuring Yousha Bashir (b. 1989) and Alireza Asadi (b. 1999) with the booth fully designed by the duo.

Expanding on his most recent series of paintings that fuse the physical materiality of a canvas with abstract retro-futuristic landscapes and the immateriality of digital imagery and thought itself, Yousha Bashir has created an immersive panorama that deceitfully escapes the frames of the booth only to manifest back into three screens mounted on the walls. These screens carry moving images that while tamed and confined within their frames, playfully add to the topography of Yousha’s large landscape, stealing terrain and relief from it and using chiaroscuro to give the impression of a third dimension.

Alireza Asadi, whose work is characterized by spectrums of gaudy colors and use of narrative styles inspired by comic strip traditions and manga, engages more familiarly with retro-futurism, drawing the viewer into a nostalgic era of amusement arcades and their electro-mechanical video game machines. As so, he has recreated a classic arcade machine and despite keeping with the original shape, has imagined a more modern interface, using both the main screen as well as the control area to present his pieces.

NFTation (est. 2021) is a curated platform dedicated to catering the vast realm of digital economy to artists and art collectors. NFTatioin seeks to close the gap by providing a transparent platform run by the practitioners themselves, as well as curated drops, and actual presence, and real engagement.
