Dastan is pleased to present a selection of works by Ardeshir Mohassess, Mehdi Ghadyanloo, Sahand Hesamiyan, Farrokh Mahdavi, Hoda Kashiha, Iman Raad, Andisheh Avini and Homa Delvaray.
Dastan is pleased to present a selection of works by some of the Iranian contemporary artists working in various mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture and graphic design. The artists in this presentation gaze at the most intimate and public spheres of human existence, embedding their local vision in the universal human experience.
This diverse group consists of the late Ardeshir Mohassess with his critical drawings of pre-revolution Iran to Mehdi Ghadyanloo with his more subtle critique of the contemporary spaces of hope and desire to Sahand Hesamiyan's study of geometric forms of Iranian architecture using modern materials. Farrokh Mahdavi and Hoda Kashiha are also present with their burlesque bittersweet imagery; one struggling with his pink characters the other playfully cutting and pasting her cartoonish figures. Based in New York, Iman Raad and Andisheh Avini weave Persian and non-Persian imagery into a tapestry of themes and motifs. And working in a larger sphere of cultural-artistic projects, Homa Delvaray utilizes her experience in cultural communication to make books, posters and images which are delicate examinations of the contemporary visual culture.
