TEHRAN – April 6, 2016. Dastan is pleased to announce the opening of two solo exhibitions by Fereydoun Ave at its two venues, Dastan’s Basement and Dastan +2, on April 8, 2016. Both exhibitions will be open for public viewing through April 23, 2016. “Souvenir” will be held at Dastan’s Basement and “Bouquet” at Dastan +2.
Fereydoun Ave is one of the most influential individuals in Iranian contemporary art and his prolific efforts have taken diverse aspects. During his career, he has successfully taken many different roles including artist, designer, art director, collector, curator, gallerist and art patron. His artworks have been featured in tens of solo exhibitions along with hundreds of group shows, in galleries and museums all around the world, and acquired by prestigious art institutions including The British Museum in London, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
In “Bouquet”, using a new approach to relief, Ave has created three-dimensional paintings. Multiple layers are piled up to create a bouquet in the form of a “paper sculpture”. Ave’s “Souvenirs” are pieces he intends as souvenirs of his voyage of over four decades in arts. These works are his wish for the new year, “for everyone who would like to have a work of mine, to be able to have one.”
