Dastan is pleased to announce “Longing for a Word Uttered, A Word that Never Was Uttered”, a presentation by Bahador Adab at Electric Room. The show, comprised of six photographs will be open to public view from August 10 to August 15, 2018.
Bahador Adab (b. 1984, Tehran, Iran) is a graduate of film-making from London Film School. In his debut exhibition, he has presented six interior shots of a house more than ten years after the death of one of its inhabitants. Over these years, the interior has gone through limited changes, some of which subconsciously aimed at keeping a presence alive.
A review of a traces from a life after so many years is the focus when reflecting upon the household: the wall paint has been changed in some areas, the library —while keeping what has remained in it from the past— is now busier with the stuff belonging to the other occupants of the house, the blankets covering some of the furniture have not been removed for a long time, the number of photographs of the departed person has increased, and some pieces have been omitted, moved or replaced. In the meantime, the selection of six frames from the house, challenge the viewer with a mystery: the effect of losing one’s partner while continuing to live in a space once shared.
