In his article "The Quiet Language of Seeing: Iranian Photographers to Follow" (published on 30 Oct 2025), Alexandra Mansilla has highlighted three Dastan artists: Newsha Tavakolian, Sina Shiri, and Alborz Kazemi.
Mansilla describes Tavakolian's art as "deliberate, reflective, and layered",
with the artist’s presence always palpable in each image. She sees's Shiri's art as a balance between realism and surrealism — depicting moments that are "rendered with cinematic tension and quiet humour". In her view, Kazemi's fragmented narratives questions the construction of memory and identity.
