No Man’s Art Gallery announces Sam Samiee’s first solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition titled 'When Hell Breaks Loose, I'll Tell You Your Legs Were Always On My Mind’ opened on the 9th of September, 2023, and runs until the 29th of October, 2023.
The show explores the artist's sixteen-year engagement with drawing and the prioritization of queer aesthetics amid vulnerabilities and crises. The exhibition features over two hundred rarely exhibited drawings spanning from 2008 to 2023, thematically divided into various categories.
Samiee's post-cinematic practice integrates installations within the exhibition's architecture, playing with semantics and profoundly connecting with psychoanalytic influences. The drawings breathe life into verses from poetry, world mythology, and his own lines, inviting viewers to explore the subtext of his work. This exhibition is a unique journey through Samiee's artistic evolution, challenging cultural norms, and ideologies while embracing beauty, poetry, and the decorative.
