Iranian Artist Presents Vivid Paintings of Carefree Childhood At Gagosian New York

Design Boom

Works of artist, painter, and muralist Mehdi Ghadyanloo, appearing at Gagosian Gallery in New York City until April 23, 2022, occasioned a reflection by Design Boom Magazine. Titled "Stimulating Memories Of Carefree Childhood Play," the magazine notes the subtle depiction of childhood experience of the artist during the Iran-Iraq War, combining "daydreaming and utopian ambitions. Though the paintings illustrate vivid and playful sculptures, in some cases, they are characterized by incompleteness and inaccessibility: stairs and entrances seem to be missing or unusable, while some slides are not correctly connected and fail to reach somewhere."
