Dastan is pleased to announce the opening of Kaveh Irani's solo exhibition titled "Confabulation -A Derivation of Past and Present; the Present that is the Past Momentarily" at Dastan's Basement. The exhibition will be open for public viewing from November 3 through November 17, 2017. This is Kaveh Irani's first solo exhibition at Dastan's Basement. His work has been featured in three solo exhibitions and over ten group shows.

Kaveh Irani (b. 1974, Tehran, Iran) studied Visual Arts at Emily Carr University (Vancouver, Canada) and California College of the Arts (San Francisco, CA). He started off as a designer, specializing in designing banknotes, and at the same time worked on his paintings. He later moved to Canada and then the USA, studying visual arts and continuing his studio practice.

Kaveh Irani's "Confabulation" has been a work in progress for over three years. The works in this series are modular assemblages, created using spray and acrylic paint, wood, cement, plaster, metal pipes, and fabric. They concern confabulation and memory, topophilia and a play on urban sign systems. Kaveh's works come in modules, with each one being made up of 'parts', going together both as parts of an arbitrary sign system, and fragments of real and fictional memory.
