Dastan is pleased to announce the opening of Milad Mousavi’s solo exhibition titled “Zanauschwitz” at Dastan’s Basement. The exhibition will be open for public viewing from September 22 through October 6, 2017. This is Milad Mousavi’s second solo exhibition at Dastan’s Basement.
Milad Mousavi (b. 1987, Tehran, Iran) studied Economics at Allameh Tabataba’i University (Tehran, Iran). He has been painting professionally since 2012. Milad Mousavi’s work has been inspired both by his surrounding world and society, and artistic mediums such as cinema and animation. In his paintings, he uses a variety of materials and techniques such as drawing and color pencils, acrylic and oil paint, and pen.
In this exhibition, Milad Mousavi presents works that have been all created during the past year, using a diverse set of materials. The title “Zanauschwitz” has been adopted from a poem by Ali Ghassemi. The exhibition consists of seven series whose themes and concepts are deeply intertwined. In “Zanauschwitz”, the artist has fully designed the space and crossed the limit of two-dimensional works. In one instance, he has designed an armchair and used it as a canvas for his paintings. A knitted yarn piece, a collaboration between the artist and his mother, is also part of the presentation.
