Residual Figure was developed alongside Afterimage (after Haft Peykar) and shares its point of departure in the visual aftermath of recent war: damaged buildings, dust-covered interiors, debris, and bodies marked by proximity to violence. Here, architectural structures become absorbed into the figures themselves, while smoke and debris move across the panels as a shared atmosphere. The accordion structure creates folds, interruptions, and partial views, while the partly obscured cypress introduces a counterpoint held between structure, memory, and possibility.
