Dastan presents "Hero,” a group exhibition of paintings on wood as a part of Dastan:Outside projects, in collaboration with Abar Studio, starting Friday, March 8, 2024. The exhibition will be on view through April 19, 2024.
The exhibition features works by Saeed Gholami, Hanieh Farhadinik, Fatima Faraji, Saeed Nodehi, Hossein Shirahmadi, Amin Tavakol, Amin Tehrani, Mahsa Nouri, Parastoo Kermani Nasab, Mostafa Hamani, Samaneh Akhbarian, Zartosht Rahimi, Najmeh Kazazi, Sahar Azadmehr, Houman Derakhshande, Ghazal Marvi, Shiva Babaei, Morteza Khosravi, and Vanoushe Kazemian.
The works in "Hero" are figures that these artists have chosen to depict on a same-size (38 x 40 cm) wood block. Heroes change and grow with and within us; they guide us in times of hardship because they stand for courage, resilience, and faith. To the artists in this group exhibition, they have kept them company through ups and downs and deserve to be summoned time and again. Here, on these two wooden cylinders, which form a column, they stand not only for strength but for germination, like a tree.
