Press release

Dastan presents an exhibition of works by Kourosh Malek titled “Yellow Room” at Dastan’s Basement. The exhibition will open on Friday, January 8, 2021, and will be on display for public viewing until January 22. His first solo exhibition at Dastan, this presentation features a series of pencil drawings on paper mounted in plexiglass boxes.

Kourosh Malek (b. 1991, Shahroud) is an art professional studying and exploring Iranian art since 2010.

This exhibition remodels and reconstructs the gallery space into a real room all painted in yellow. The attempt is to create a disconcerting atmosphere of anxiety, frustration and a discomforting feeling of being overseen. “Yellow Room”, as the artist states, represents the lost privacy in contemporary human life through the depiction of “quasi cinematic” images which seem to have been captured in secret moments.
