Dastan is pleased to announce the first solo presentation of Ali Razghandi’s paintings at Dastan's Basement. The exhibition will open on Friday, August 30, 2019, and will be open for public viewing through September 13, 2019.

Ali Razghandi (b. 1987, Iran) is a graduate of Media Design-Graphic Design from Farhang Art University in Mashad. He is currently doing a residency program at Delfina Foundation, London, UK. He was also shortlisted for MOP Contemporary Art Prize 2017.

The presentation contains over 50 of his works that are executed in the variety of styles over the past two years. Delfina Foundation’s website describes his painterly conduct as a subjective exploration of life in his surroundings as well as himself. The painter himself considers his works an endeavour to capture his subconscious’ perception of the outside world. In the MOP 2017 catalogue he elaborates on the reasons behind the deformations of the figures he paints as below: ”I work mostly in figurative painting, especially the body - here you can see several aspects of the face, from lips and eyes including hands - which in my work usually have four or six fingers, instead of the usual five. I also find feet interesting, elongating them to show personality."
