Dastan is pleased to announce the opening of Shahin Mansouri's solo exhibition titled "The Hero's Timely Exit" at Dastan's Basement. The exhibition will be open for public viewing from December 9, 2016, through December 18. This is Shahin Mansouri's first solo exhibition at the Basement. One of his works was shown in "Update", a group exhibition at Dastan+2, in September/October 2016.

Shahin Mansouri (b. 1992, Tehran, Iran) describes the current works as a series of related sculpture/installations. The exhibition consists of four installations: "Breaking News", "Shirin and the Shark", "Scope of Choice" and "The Hero's Timely Exit", creating independent as well as interrelated narratives. The artists states: "Hero is a word given to a specific type of person… with all the progress, and development of controlling measures, the meaning of the term 'hero' went through much change. It was easier for everyone to give up the responsibilities of high-cost and influential tasks to others. At the same time, dominant media, quite willingly, took up the responsibility of choosing and naming new heroes. Consequently, identity-less heroes were developed whose lifestyle and worldview were not credible criteria. The only criterion was their being chosen, and that's it, it could be you, or the one next to you."
